Dog food ratings

When people give dog food ratings, are they giving it by reading properly the labels to come at a detailed assessment? You might think that it is very simple to read the label on the container of food product. But it is not so easy to read the label because it dose not mean that just read it. It means that you need proper concentration for reading the ingredients that are used in the food product.

For instance there is a great difference between beef and chicken and beef with chicken. If you are thinking that there is not any difference between both and that is the way to need for reading the label of food product for dogs.
Association of American Food Control Officials introduces some rules about ingredients of pet food. One of example from their rules is given here. This is very important to understand for giving the dog food ratings.

The rule is diner rule or 25% rule. It means that the chicken is named in ingredients of a food product, if it lies from 25% to 94%of whole composition (without water), then it should be named as platter, formula, diner etc. it means that the chicken dinner might have only 25% chicken, so what else is in other 75%? It is a worse nutrition for your dog.

There is another rule which is with rule or 3% rule. In this rule an ingredient which comes after the word “with” should be equal to 3% of full weight that dose not carry any water. If the ingredient is written as chicken with bacon, then the chicken must be 95% and bacon must be 3 %. These are some rules of ingredients of food for dogs. If any one read the ingredients and follow these rules and after that give dog food ratings then they will do it in proper way.
